Faktor manusia dan ergonomik (biasanya dirujuk sebagai faktor manusia) ialah penerapan prinsip psikologi dan fisiologi kepada kejuruteraan dan reka bentuk produk, proses dan sistem. Matlamat faktor manusia ialah untuk mengurangkan kesilapan manusia, meningkatkan produktiviti dan meningkatkan keselamatan, ketersediaan sistem dan keselesaan dengan tumpuan khusus pada interaksi antara manusia dan sistem kejuruteraan.[1]

Bidang ini adalah gabungan pelbagai disiplin, seperti psikologi, sosiologi, kejuruteraan, biomekanik, reka bentuk perindustrian, fisiologi, antropometri, reka bentuk interaksi, reka bentuk visual, pengalaman pengguna dan reka bentuk antara muka pengguna. Dalam penyelidikan, faktor manusia menggunakan kaedah saintifik untuk mengkaji tingkah laku manusia supaya data yang terhasil boleh digunakan untuk empat matlamat utama. Pada dasarnya, ia adalah kajian mereka bentuk peralatan, peranti dan proses yang sesuai dengan tubuh manusia dan kebolehan kognitifnya. Kedua-dua istilah "faktor manusia" dan "ergonomi" pada asasnya adalah sinonim.[2][3][4]
