George H. Melford (lahir George Henry Knauff, February 19, 1877 – April 25, 1961) adalah seorang pemeran serta sutradara panggung dan film asal Amerika Serikat. Meskipun saat ini sering dianggap sebagai sutradara, nama Melford pada tahun 1920-an, mirip dengan Cecil B. DeMille, yang sering muncul dalam huruf besar dan tebal di atas judul film-film yang ia sutradarai.[1]

Tahun-tahun awal

George H. Melford lahir di Rochester, New York, pada tahun 1877, meskipun beberapa sumber yang lebih tua mencatat tahun kelahirannya sebagai 1888. Ia adalah putra dari Henrietta Knauff, seorang imigran Jerman. Melford memiliki empat saudara perempuan, yaitu Mary Knauff yang menikah dengan Godfrey Willis Wainwright, Henrietta Knauff, dan Alice Irene Knauff yang menikah dengan Edmond Francois Bernoudy, serta saudara perempuannya yang menikah dengan Frederick Kells/Keith, semuanya tinggal di Los Angeles kecuali yang terakhir yang tinggal di Ottawa, Kanada. Kehidupan Pribadi

George H. Melford menikah dengan Louise Leroy pada tanggal 9 Mei 1904. Namun, ia mengajukan gugatan cerai pada tanggal 28 September 1923 dengan alasan bahwa Louise meninggalkannya pada 15 September 1922.[2] Perceraian mereka dikabulkan pada tanggal 10 Januari 1924.[3] Selain itu, Melford juga diketahui menikah dengan pemeran Diana Miller.[4]
